As BU adopts a new Strategic Plan for 2020–2030, you may think “Oh, great. Another plan that another school will scrap in a couple years.” We understand. Plans get written, followed for a while, then ignored because they seem impossible or rewritten because they are impossible.

Just not at BU. The proof? Our last Strategic Plan. Rather than ending up in the dustbin, it ended up working—really well. So while strategic plans are all about the future, it’s sometimes helpful to take a quick look back for something inspiring to build upon: Just what it was that made BU into a world-class research institution.
