I am a student at BU SSW and am hoping to collaborate with the school's event management team to hopefully host an event for my field education end of the year capstone event for my organization.
Families First is looking to host a FREE Graduate Reunion event for all of its alumni of the Power of Parenting program on Saturday, May 11, 2019, from 12-3 PM. This event will be a time to celebrate the success of the parent graduates as well as a time for parents to reconnect with other parents, our Parenting Educators, and the larger parenting community as a whole. This would also be a time to reconnect with other parents and some of the Parenting Educators. Additionally, the parents will also have the chance to share and learn proven strategies to lower stress and other related resources to help make parenting easier.
Families First is a local nonprofit that has been working in the Greater Boston area for 30 years and has worked with dozens of community partners to provide parenting education programs to underserved families in our community. We are looking to improve the impact of our program on our parents and children’s overall well-being through this event and hope to showcase the success of the parents who have graduated from our programs.
The event will need to accommodate an estimated 125 people, 60-75 of which are children. This means that a partner host agency will have to be okay hosting children. Child care will be provided, but any suggestions regarding child care are greatly appreciated. The location will also need to be split in to at least two rooms—one for the whole group, and one for child care to break off into. Additionally, the location must be okay with food being served at the event as lunch will be provided to the families and staff attending the event. Food details will be discussed later on, but any suggestions are again greatly appreciated. Finally, we would need roughly an hour for both set up and clean up so we would like to request space from 11 AM-3:30/4PM.
