Paul Kasili

Dr. Paul Kasili is a professor in the Biology & Chemistry Department at Bunker Hill Community College. Originally from Nairobi, Kenya, Paul moved to Cedar Rapids, IA to pursue his undergraduate education. Inspired by his father, a doctor, and his mother, a nurse, Paul entered higher education in order to work with underrepresented and underserved students.
This summer, Paul worked in the Bifano Lab on “High Throughput Screening of Cardiomyopathy in 3D Engineered Tissues” with Tom Bifano and graduate mentor Ruifeng Hu. The Bifano Lab collaborated with the Helms Lab at the University of Michigan. Paul learned how to use a 96 well platform, design experiments, and establish a pipeline of material transfer between the two labs.
