Coupled Oscillator Simulations
Project Description
The Bishop lab is building a new highly-sensitive force sensor, based on a technology called coupled oscillators. During this RET project, I hope to have Nahuel help make simulations of the working principle behind these new sensors, to better understand the design space in preparation for the creation of the first prototypes.

Research Goals
Learning Goals
Project Timeline
Week 1: Install MATLAB, be acquainted with the lab, have discussion about research goals
Week 2: Core research concepts understood, details of driven harmonic oscillator understood, first simulation results of oscillator system
Week 3: Demonstrated frequency feedback system works. Calculated rate of frequency adjustment. Added coupling to simulation and demonstrated change in behavior (frequency) of the oscillator as it approaches static wall.
Week 4: Completed study of different forms of driving (parametric amplification via a second oscillator vs frequency-tuned driving force)
Week 5: Research is in final stages, spend next week polishing and making poster
Week 6: Poster ready, give presentation on research!
