2026 REU Project: Coming soon
Professor William Boley leads the Additive Assembly Lab. Professor Boley’s research focuses on understanding and harnessing the relationships between materials synthesis, assembly process, and multi-scale architecture in additive manufacturing to create new functional materials and devices. To accomplish this, his research combines aspects of materials science, thermal fluid science, design, and optimization. Target application areas include electronics, optics, sensors, and soft robotics.
Previous REU/RET Projects include:
- Multimaterial 3D Printing of Multifunctional Materials (REU, 2025)
- Designing Activators and Monomers for 3D Printed Chemically Coalescing Liquid Metal Polymer Composites (REU, 2023)
- Automated Hybrid Manufacturing of Electrical Objects (RET, 2023)
- Automating and Integrating Additive manufacturing of Nano-engineered Materials (REU, 2022)
- Nanoparticle Composite Inks for 4D Printing Shape Shifting Structures (REU/RET, 2021)
