2026 REU Project: Imaging tumor spheroid by SWIR CARS
Dr. Cheng’s research interests include medical photonics, neurophotonics, molecular spectroscopic imaging technologies, label-free microscopy, cancer metabolism, and photonics for infectious diseases. Cheng and his team have invented a series of chemical microscopes that use spectroscopic signals to map molecular interactions inside a living system temporally and spatially. Cheng’s inventions include the CARS microscope, multiplex SRS microscope, and mid-infrared photothermal microscope. With a focus on the medical application of photonics, the Cheng Group seeks to advance the field with research and innovative technologies.
