Spring 2026: STEM Outreach Volunteers Needed!
The Photonics Center seeks graduate students in STEM fields for mentoring and outreach in East Boston this spring. The program will take place on five Thursdays at East Boston High School and five Fridays at Otis Elementary School. Transportation by Uber/Lyft is reimbursed.
Each BU volunteer will be partnered with 3-4 high school students. On Thursdays at EBHS, BU students work with their high school partners to plan a STEM lesson and activities; the next day, BU and high school students teach the lesson and activities at Otis Elementary School.
Volunteers serve as mentors and role models to the high school students and help teach and inspire the younger students.
We seek volunteers who can attend class in East Boston from 11AM-Noon on the ten dates below. Please factor in travel time to and from East Boston (20-30 mins each way) when you consider your availability.
