Our NSF RET program provides Boston-area high school and community college educators with unique opportunities to conduct multidisciplinary engineering research alongside BU faculty and graduate student mentors or, in some cases, in BU startup labs.

Participants will develop new research skills and confidence to teach engineering concepts and the latest developments in STEM fields. They will learn firsthand about current applications of science and engineering and will be able to connect their classroom teaching with applications that resonate with students, helping to bring scientific concepts alive in their classrooms and inspire their students to learn more about science and engineering.

Participants will be coached as they develop an original curricular lesson or activity related to their research experience, to be taught in their classrooms and published online at TeachEngineering.org.

Teachers will meet together throughout the summer for group meetings and professional development.

Tentative 2026 program dates:  June 29 – August 7, 2026
