Marla Rhuma

Originally born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, Marla Rhuma moved to the Dorchester area when she was 11, and later moved outside of Boston for school. She always felt called to teaching, and eventually obtained a position as a physics teacher at East Boston High School. Marla has found joy in her work helping students understand difficult problems.
Summer 2024
Marla was mentored by Noelle Pierce in the Bishop Lab where they worked on Creating and Optimizing Anisotropic Scaffolds for Cell Study.
Summer 2023
This summer, Marla worked with Will Boley and Kayla Wolfe in the Boley Lab to integrate 3D printing and pick-and-place functionalities into an assembly robot used by REUs. This work enabled students to gain hands-on, multifaceted experience in hybrid automated manufacturing.
