Natalia Sagolla

Natalia attends the University of South Florida, where she is majoring in mechanical engineering. With an interest in robotics spanning back to high school, she joined the FIRST robotics team to learn initial technical skills, and now serves as a TA for an Engineering and Robotics course at her home institution. Following graduation, Natalia plans to dive into industry.

Integrated Sensing for a Soft Robot used in Minimally Invasive Procedures: Natalia worked in the Morphable Biorobotics Lab with Tommaso Ranzani, where she focused on stacked balloon actuators––soft robots fabricated from TPE materials. Her goal was to utilize ink properties to create a masking layer which is more easily applied and reproduced. Her mentor was Leonardo Zamora.

“Boston has been amazing! There is so much to do in the city, from museums and kayaking on the Charles, to exploring New England beaches or the shops on Newberry Street. My favorite moments were always in the city, especially on the esplanade or near the river. Being around the other cohort members always made the day fun, so every moment in the city was positive for me.”
