Dwight Paniagua
Dwight is from Rhode Island, where he majors in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Rhode Island, following a high school interest in coding. This summer served as his first research experience beyond the classroom, and he now aims to pursue a graduate degree after receiving his Bachelor’s.
Real-Time Integrated ORBGRAND-Based Transceiver (RIOT): Dwight’s project with Rabia Tugce Yazicigil in the WISE Circuits Lab focused on designing a functional block of an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) that decoded noisy analog signals into digital so that it could be interpreted by an ASIC chip. The overall goal was to improve data integrity in high-speed systems. His mentors were Akshaya Bali, Zeynep Ece Kizilates, and Arslan Riaz.
“I didn’t know what to expect coming in to this program, because this was my first time going away from home and living in a different city. After the first day, though, I could tell that this experience was going to be nothing but fun and that’s exactly what it has been. This program was so much fun and everyone was so helpful and nice, and I would recommend this program to anyone!”
