TO REPAIR INADEQUACIES
Of former efforts when I
dare serve you canapes when snow
blocks passes catch my mind circling
butterfly pinned alive,
no dog knows my smell of Lepke
ankle bangles on crosstown bus
like star rising in £lame flamingo
infantware prefer fallen fruit
like pacifists not Spartan summer
millionaire leap from LL Bean catalogue
love more like loafers polished
like rosewood yachts willing to face
the world without a face your legs
conceal turncoats in a lineup
too excited you buckle me down
with a pat I leap up
leaving you angry Tuesday
in a chrome oyster cinema shamelessly
using all stock market quotations
dying poet whose family will not
visit will subdue impulse to kiss
her grey face she no longer shaves
being absorbed into coal age fur
enthusiasm but sin strung me
outside every moral value system
ends in nihilism reverting again
to original absurdity me
ending apologies you think have
only just begun
