The Orthopaedic Residency Training Program for Boston University Medical Center accepts five applicants per year one of whom is selected for the 6-year program which includes one year devoted to full-time laboratory research. Applicants for that 6-year track are reviewed separately from the other applicants to the program. The resident will perform an internship and a PGY-2 year of residency (first year in orthopaedic surgery) which will be followed by the year in the laboratory. He or she will then complete their remaining three years of the orthopaedic training program. During the year in the laboratory, the resident will be involved in at least one major project for which he/she will be principal investigator as well as two or three others as co-investigator.
