CISCO AnyConnect

CISCO AnyConnect is a client that allows users to connect to the BU Virtual Private Network (VPN). This software is essential to access several network-restricted resources when you are off campus.


Support Policy

MET IT is responsible for the following:

  • Software installation assistance on BU-provisioned devices
  • Software guidance and troubleshooting

Personal Installation

Faculty, staff and students may install the CISCO AnyConnect software on their personal hardware by following the instructions provided by BU IS&T. The software is available on:

  • Mac OS X (10.12 and higher)
  • Windows
  • iOS Device (iPhone, iPad)
  • Android Device (4.0 and above)

Connecting to VPN

Once the CISCO AnyConnect client is installed and configured, you may connect to the VPN in one of two ways:

Standard VPN
Open CISCO AnyConnect, enter vpn.bu.edu in the URL field, then click Connect.

Two-Factor Authentication VPN
Open CISCO AnyConnect, enter vpn.bu.edu/2FA in the URL field, then click Connect. When prompted, login with your BU credentials and follow the DUO Two-Step login process.
