Remote Apps
MET IT offers remote applications to provide students with remote access to course-specific software. They’re similar to the Virtual Labs, but the Remote Apps only load one application instead of a complete desktop.
Support Policy
MET IT is responsible for the following:
- Providing access to students upon faculty request
- Manage Remote Apps infrastructure (servers, licenses, and deployment)
- Troubleshooting of access to Remote Apps
- Troubleshooting software errors
MET IT is not responsible for software support as it relates to completing course assignments. Students should speak with their faculty or teaching assistant for support first before reaching out to MET IT.
- Gaining Access
-
Instructors should complete the Virtual Lab Request form prior to the start of their course.
Based on the information provided in the form, our Virtualization specialist will either:
- Create a Remote App to your specifications
- Discuss the use of the Open VLabs or Course-Specific VLabs as an alternative
Once access for a specific course has been requested, future course offerings will be added automatically to the appropriate Remote App access group(s).
