Troubleshooting
Loud Echo/Feedback When Using Zoom In My Classroom
This issue occurs when audio from an attendee’s speakers is picked up by an attendee’s microphone, causing a feedback loop. Solutions to this issue can differ depending on the environment.
- MET IT Teaching Studios
-
As audio and video for MET IT Teaching Studios is built into the room infrastructure, instructors and students who are in-person should not “Join Audio” when entering the Zoom meeting.
If a user accidentally joins the audio, they can turn this off by doing the following:
- Click on the arrow icon in the corner of the “Audio” button of the menu bar.
- Click Leave computer audio to disconnect your speakers and microphone.
- Additional Solutions
-
If you encounter this issue in other circumstances, consider the following solutions:
- Ask attendees to keep their microphones muted when they are not speaking.
- Use headphones or a conference headset/speaker to avoid audio feedback.
- Mute all attendees through the “Participants” window if a source can’t be identified easily.
