Focused on investigating how retroviruses and double-stranded DNA viruses encode cis-regulatory elements that control transcription and mediate interactions with host transcription factors. Specifically, I use massively parallel reporter assays (MPRAs) across multiple human cell lines combined with saturation mutagenesis to systematically map and quantify viral cis-regulatory element activity at nucleotide resolution.
