Off-Campus Housing
Boston University Study Abroad participants are required to live in program-sponsored housing when the program fee includes the cost of housing.

HOW TO REQUEST OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING:
1. Student emails buinla@bu.edu that they want to live off campus by the below dates.
- Fall semester participants: May 15
- Spring semester participants: October 15
- Summer term participants: March 15
2. BULA will send a form to complete for approval.
3. The partial credit will be processed after the students’ arrival in LA at check-in, and takes up to three weeks to process and be reflected as a credit on their accounts.
GUIDELINES FOR APPROVAL:
Off campus applicants need to:
- Undergraduate students must reside with a family member whose primary residence meets the following requirements:
- The family member has resided at the location for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the program start date
- The residence is within a 45-minute commute of the host university/BU academic center or site office.
- Graduate students may reside in an approved location within a 30 minute drive from the BULA offices.
Students whose housing exception requests are approved will receive a partial credit of the Study Abroad Program Fee.
