Hobbies

I have been playing the violin for about 8 years. I take violin lessons and participate in orchestras at New England Conservatory.

I started doing robotics in fifth grade with a team of girls from my class at school. We participated in First Lego League. In sixth grade, I joined one of the middle school robotics team, and I had another team of all girls. The next year, all the girls on the middle school robotics teams left, so I was stuck with a bunch of boys. In eighth grade, I started doing VEX Robotics. Both VEX teams were made up of all boys and myself again. We were mentored by the high school robotics teams.

I have been playing soccer for about 10 years. I started out playing Kindertarden Soccer in Newton, and then I played Newton Girls Soccer. Once I got to middle school, I joined my school's soccer team. I have played goalie and offense in the past, but now I play defense.

I have always loved listening to music, and I probably will for the rest of my life. Music is a huge part of my life, and listening to music serves as an escape from whatever stress or worries I may have. My favorite band is 5 Seconds of Summer, but I also like All Time Low, The Vamps, Little Mix, Bars and Melody, and many more. I have never been able to pick a favorite song because there are too many to choose from. I also like video game soundtracks, my favorite being the To The Moon soundtrack.

I probably spend too much time on YouTube, but I'm not going to stop anytime soon, even if I waste a lot of time on it. I think I first started watching YouTube in fourth grade, when I got my iPad. The first YouTuber I can remember watching is Markiplier. I still watch him today, and he is one of my favorite YouTubers. My favorite YouTuber is Jacksepticeye. He is really loud and energetic, but he is really funny as well.

I like drawing, but the only problem is that I can't draw very well unless I have a reference. My favorite things to draw are animals and mythical creatures. I have drawn some of the dragons from Wings of Fire by Tui T. Sutherland. I have also tried to draw anime style people.

I have liked reading since I was little, and many people have called me a bookworm. My favorite book is The Maze Runner by James Dashner. My favorite character in the book is Newt. My favorite book series is Warriors by Erin Hunter. There are too many character in that for me to pick a favorite.

I wrote my first story in third grade during our immigration unit. I wrote about a family who traveled across the ocean on a ship to get to the United States for a better life. I wrote a short story in fifth grade inspired by Warriors and Wings of Fire. I continued a series of short stories continuing that story in sixth grade. I wrote poetry in fourth grade and continued throughout middle school.
