About
The solutions to humanity’s most vexing problems are increasingly discovered in the space between scientific fields.
The Rajen Kilachand Center for Integrated Life Sciences & Engineering is a cutting-edge research facility designed to foster collaboration across disciplines. It is named in honor of Rajen Kilachand, a visionary Boston University alumnus and trustee. His magnificent gift to the University supported the construction of the Kilachand Center building and also helped establish the Rajen Kilachand Fund for Integrated Life Sciences and Engineering—a $100 million endowment that advances, in perpetuity, groundbreaking research at the intersection of the life sciences and engineering.
As a direct result of Mr. Kilachand’s philanthropy, the scientists gathered under this one roof are taking interdisciplinary approaches to such complex challenges as solving the riddles of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, accelerating our understanding of memory and speech, and developing synthetic biological molecules and tissues that mimic natural function in order to improve health outcomes.
Meet the FacultyLearn about the individual research centers collaborating under the Kilachand Center umbrella:
- Biological Design Center (BDC)
- Center for Systems Neuroscience (CSN)
- Cognitive Neuroimaging Center (CNC)
- Neurophotonics Center (NPC)
These world-class researchers are opening their labs and minds, sharing spaces and ideas, and seeking that fertile ground where interests intersect, problems find solutions, and research moves in unforeseen ways.
