Affiliated Faculty, IGS; Assistant Professor, Administrative Sciences, Metropolitan College
Kathleen Park, affiliated faculty with the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS), is Assistant Professor of Administrative Studies, Strategy and Innovation and Coordinator of the Boston University Metropolitan College Innovation Program, and conducts sustainability-related research focusing on three areas. First, she has examined the global logistics industry’s dedication to the reduction of carbon emissions along entire supply chains and supplier networks, for all partner companies pulling toward decreased carbon emissions and specifically GHG emissions diminution at a scope 3 level. Second, she explores cyber modalities and emergent digital technologies such as NFTs and the incredible energy demands of these enticing yet environmentally degrading technologies. The conundrum of technological advances with negative climate or environmental impact is not a new one. Traditionally companies have been compelled to pay for these externalities, but newer lines of thought encourage an a priori internalization rather than externalization perspective on these impacts. Third, she researches global, technology-centered leaders and their role in strategically, philanthropically, or collaboratively promoting climate-friendly goals and internalization and centralization of momentum toward resolving GHG and cyber-modality emissions issues.
Park addresses issues of business strategy and sustainability from a top-leadership, innovation, and technology perspective, with particular attention to the roles of global business leaders from emerging markets.
