
Johan Nordensvard

Johan Nordensvard, a Visiting Researcher at the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS), is an associate professor in Industrial Economics and Management with a specialization in Technological Innovation at the Royal Institute of Technology KTH and associate professor in Political Science at Linköping University, Sweden. Nordensvard was awarded the title of Docent (Reader) in Political Science at Linköping University in 2021. He worked as a lecturer at the University of Southampton and as a researcher at the London School of Economics and Politics (LSE), UK.
Nordensvard’s research focuses on the intersection of environmental management and environmental politics. He is particularly interested in developing a broader understanding of sustainable development including low carbon innovation management and governance. He has published in journals such as Environmental Politics, Energy Policy, and Sustainable Development.
He is working on finishing the last publications from a four-year-long research project called Advocacy, policy-making and change of EU policy on resource and energy-efficient buildings (ADVOCACY-REEB) funded by the Swedish Energy Agency (Energimyndigheten). He is also Co-Investigator for the project Sustainable Energy Transformations in Aviation (SETA) also funded by the Swedish Energy Agency. He is supervising two PhD students related to these projects.
Nordensvard’s research visit in Boston focuses on developing these projects further and working on the future of energy trilemmas and geopolitical tensions as a new approach to tackling the energy transformations in the current global political climate.
