Jiguang Yu
Graduate Student Summer Fellow, IGS; Division of Systems Engineering, College of Engineering
Jiguang Yu, a 2026 Graduate Summer Fellow at the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS), is a PhD student in the Division of Systems Engineering. Yu’s research specializes in algorithmic game theory, optimization, and complex network systems, with a primary focus on solving resource allocation challenges. He is currently developing innovative, physics-based economic mechanisms for dynamic spectrum sharing to ensure the sustainable coexistence of active commercial telecommunications and passive Earth observation systems. As a Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability Graduate Student Summer Fellow, his work will directly supports critical initiatives in spectrum sharing fairness and the sustainability transitions of future infrastructure systems.
Furthermore, he applies control theory and mathematical methods to investigate multiscale systems, modeling phenomena ranging from stem cell and tumor microenvironments to macroscopic earth ecological systems.
His faculty advisor is David Starobinski (Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering) and his project is titled “Spectrum Fairness: A New Game-Theoretic Framework for Active-Passive Dynamic Spectrum Sharing.”
