Gordon Burtch, affiliated faculty with the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS), is broadly interested in the societal consequences of technology. His recent work has considered 1) the consequences of EV charging station placement for retailer foot traffic and demand and 2) the factors that influence the geographic placement of Data Centers and the impacts those data centers have on neighboring communities (e.g., electricity prices). More broadly, he is studying generative AI technologies’ impacts on academics and government.
