Amira Aker, affiliated faculty with the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS), is an environmental epidemiologist who uses interdisciplinary approaches to examine the health risks of emerging environmental contaminants. Aker’s community-based participatory research focuses on the impacts of environmental contamination on Indigenous communities, and Aker also investigates health outcomes associated with living near oil and gas development.
