Drawing on World Scientific’s new release, Energy Efficiency | Innovations: Driving Prosperity, Slashing Emissions, the ISE (now the Institute for Global Sustainability, IGS) convened a panel of pioneers and leaders in mobility, aviation, buildings, and industrial energy efficiency who contributed to the book. The discussion is led by the editor, Henry Kelly, who is an IGS Senior Fellow. Audience Q&A with the panelists will follow.

  Dr. Henry Kelly is a Senior Fellow at the Boston University Institute for Sustainable Energy. Previously, he served in senior positions in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the Department of Energy during the Obama Administration.
• Gaudy Bezos-O’Connor, Project Manager for the Electrified Powertrain Flight Demonstration (EPFD) Project within NASA Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate’s Integrated Aviation Systems Program

  Bio

  Bezos-O’Connor is project manager for the EPFD Project, a cost-shared, public-private partnership focused on maturing MW-class electrified powertrain technology to accelerate product introduction into the US commercial transport fleet. She recently completed a detail as a Program Engineer in the FAA’s Continuous Lower Energy, Emissions and Noise (CLEEN) Program, which is focused on advancing subsonic and supersonic technologies in partnership with NASA, industry, and academia in the achievement of green aviation emissions, community noise, and fuel efficiency goals. Bezos-O’Connor is the recipient of NASA’s Exceptional Engineering Achievement Medal.
• Adam Cohen, Transportation Mobility Futures Researcher, Transportation Sustainability Research Center, University of California, Berkeley

  Bio

  Cohen is a transportation mobility futures researcher at the Transportation Sustainability Research Center at the University of California, Berkeley. Since joining the group in 2004, his research has focused on innovative urban mobility solutions, including urban air mobility, automated vehicles, shared mobility, smart cities technologies, smartphone apps, and other emerging technologies.
• Mary Ann Piette, Senior Scientist, Director of the Building Technology and Urban Systems Division, and Senior Science Advisor to the Associate Lab Director of Energy Technologies Area at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL)

  Bio

  Piette oversees LBNL’s building energy research activities with the US Department of Energy and over 25 other R&D sponsors. She is also the Director of the Demand Response Research Center. Piette develops and evaluates new technology and building components, controls, operations, simulation, whole building and electric load shape analysis and behavior.
