National
meetings and activities are necessary, but the time has passed when scholarly
organizations can expect to promote serious discussions in large national
meetings that involve high travel costs. To encourage maximum participation,
we supplement national meetings with regional meetings that people can
readily attend and shape to address specific questions. Our organization
places a large part of its focus on these regional and local groups. Regional
meetings encourage attendance at minimal expense and bring established
professors and independent scholars into direct contact with young professors,
graduate students and others. All are welcome at regional events.
The regions are listed below, along with the respective Regional Coordinators
and their contact information. Regional boundaries may evolve, and local
branches may emerge, according to local initiatives and the overall structure
of The Historical Society.
If you would like to receive mailings for a region outside your own, please
let us know, and we will include you on both mailing lists.
