For U.S. citizens; outbound from BU
Awards available to graduating college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals from all backgrounds. Program participants pursue graduate study, conduct research, or teach English abroad. Must be U.S. citizen at time of application.

Fulbright U. S. Scholar Program
For U.S. citizens; outbound from BU (2 to 12 months for Scholars; 2 weeks for IEA awards)
Offers more than 380 awards in more than 120 countries for U.S. citizens to teach, conduct research, and carry out professional projects around the world. Open to faculty, research and development professionals, artists and administrators
Includes Fulbright Scholars Award, Fulbright Distinguished Scholars Award, Fulbright Postdoctoral Awards and Fulbright International Education Administrator (IEA) Award.

Inbound Programs
Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program (FFLTA)
For non-U.S. citizens; inbound to BU
Designed to develop Americans’ knowledge of foreign cultures and languages by supporting teaching assistantships in more than 30 languages at hundreds of U.S. institutions of higher education. At BU the FFLTA program is hosted by BU’s College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) World Language & Literature (WLL) department.
Fulbright FLTAs are sponsored as J-1 non-degree students

Fulbright Visiting Scholars Program
For non-U.S. citizens inbound to BU
Each year roughly 850 faculty and professionals from around the world receive Fulbright Scholar awards for advanced research and university lecturing in the United States. Individual awards are available to scholars from over 100 countries.

Fulbright Outreach Lecturing Fund
Offers short-term travel grants for current Fulbright Visiting Scholars already in the United States to visit additional U.S. institutions. BU would need to partner with another local institution who has hosted fewer than 5 scholars in the past 2 years in order to apply to host the visitor.
