AP BIOLOGY AT BHS

The GK-12 program at Boston University pairs graduate students from biology, chemistry, engineering, mathematics or physics with teachers in Boston public schools to enhance scientific content in K-12 education for one academic year.

Jan Blom was partnered with Stephanie Beamish at Brighton High School and helped to teach her Advanced Placement (AP) Biology class.

Jan’s role in the classroom was to introduce the students to the scientific method, through conducting experiments. Additionally, he introduced the students to his field of study, neurobiology.  Students attended a local neuroscience conference (N.E.U.R.O.N) for undergraduate research that encourages the participation of high school students.

This website was designed to help teachers with lesson plans that could be applied to a Biology class.
