To
be diagnosed, the patient must have had 5
or more of the following 9 symptoms (including
at least 1 of the first 2 * symptoms) during
the past two or more weeks:

depressed mood ( sad, "blue")*

loss of interest or pleasure (anhedonia) *

change in sleep

change in appetite or weight
-
low energy or fatigue
-
psychomotor agitation or slowing
-
low self-esteem or guilt
-
poor concentration
-
thoughts of suicide or death
