HDS Storage and Dispensing

dispensing HDS

As Bill's medical provider, you need to understand how HDS are handled, stored, and dispensed in a hospital. Though you may not be the one giving Bill his medications, your awareness and knowledge about hospital policies and protocols is essential in ensuring his safety.

Ideally, your hospital has standards requiring safe storage and administration of dietary supplement. Policies will vary across hospitals regarding the use of HDS in the medical setting, how HDS is stored and dispense can also vary. For example, in many hospitals, nurses have the responsibility of storing and administering home supply of dietary supplements.
