How do you write orders so that Bill can have the melatonin?

After discussion the risks and benefits of melatonin with Bill and his mom, you agree to write a medical order so his nurse can dispense it to Bill at the bedside. You go to the order set. Here are your choices.

Choice 1

Melatonin - Follow the instructions on the bottle.

Choice 2

Patient may take home supply of Melatonin after it has been reviewed by the pharmacy. Melatonin will be stored in the locked medication pixis and dispensed by a nurse.
