Nicole McCann

Nicole McCann, is a PhD candidate in Health Services and Policy Research at Boston University School of Public Health, where she serves as a Predoctoral NIDA T32 Research Fellow in the Integrated Care for Addiction, HIV and HCV Research and Education (ICAHRE) program. Her dissertation research focuses on evaluating a Massachusetts Medicaid housing support program among people with opioid use disorder, examining both implementation and healthcare utilization outcomes. Before her doctoral studies, Nicole worked as a Research Assistant at the Medical Practice Evaluation Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, where she conducted health economic modeling using Monte-Carlo simulation of HIV disease and treatment to inform policy decisions, including international analyses in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Malawi, as well as US-based studies on HIV prevention and treatment costs. She holds a degree in Biology and Science in Society from Wesleyan University.

Research Interests: The intersection of social factors, such as housing and nutrition, and health outcomes, with a particular focus on substance use-related outcomes. I use mixed evaluation methods to inform program and policy implementation.
