Thomas Little

Thomas DC Little is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering at Boston University. Professor Little is the Associate Dean for Educational Initiatives in the College of Engineering. These initiatives focus on improving engineering pedagogy to impact instruction across the college.  He drives the growth of the engineering master’s program and serves as the technology innovation liaison between the College of Engineering and Questrom School of Business.

Professor Little leads an active research program that focuses on ubiquitous computing and communications, including using optical cells to increase wireless data capacity as the demand by mobile devices continues to outstrip supply. His work supports the development of “smart spaces” that enable environments to anticipate and respond to human needs.

Professor Little received a BS degree in biomedical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1983, and an MS degree in electrical engineering and PhD degree in computer engineering from Syracuse University in 1989 and 1991. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, a member of the IEEE Computer and Communications Societies and a member of the Association for Computing Machinery. He is an associate editor for the OSA/IEEE Journal of Optical Computing and Networking.
