Associate Professor, CAS (Math/Stat), Associate Professor of MSSP (M.S. Statistical Practice)

Luis Carvahol is Associate Professor in the Dept. of Mathematics and Statistics, and Director of the MSSP (MS in Statistical Practice) program. Dr. Carvalho’s main research interests are in Bayesian inference for structured, often high-dimensional, discrete spaces, and Computational Statistics. Additional interests include Computational Statistics, Computational Biology, Networks and Network Modeling, Remote Sensing, and Transportation Engineering. He received his PhD in Applied Math from Brown University, and his M.Sc. in Computer Science from Federal University of Ceara (UFC), and M.Sc. and B.S. from Federal University of Ceara (UFC) Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
