Christina Polyzos is the Associate Director of the Center for Information & Systems Engineering (CISE) at Boston University, where she leads the center’s administrative operations, strategic initiatives, and external partnerships. Since joining BU in 2014, she has played a key role in advancing CISE’s mission to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and translate research in information and systems engineering into real-world impact. Polyzos manages programs that connect faculty, students, and industry partners, oversees the CISE Seminar Series, and supports research initiatives that span fields such as robotics, data science, and cyber-physical systems.

 

She has been instrumental in coordinating and managing major grant-funded projects, including the Robotics and Autonomous Systems Teaching and Innovation Center (RASTIC), a multi-million-dollar initiative supported by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative to advance robotics education and research infrastructure at BU. Prior to joining CISE, Polyzos served as Department Head and Professor at Deree – The American College of Greece, where she led academic programs and institutional development for over a decade. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration and MSc in Mass Communication from Boston University, combining her expertise in management and communication with a strong commitment to enabling research collaboration and innovation across disciplines.

Student Assistants

Brendan Galvin is a junior majoring in journalism with a minor in business administration. Coming from West Roxbury, Massachusetts, just 30 minutes from campus, he grew up engulfed in the rich sports culture of Boston and hopes to turn his love of sports into a career in sports management or sports media. Throughout his three semesters as a CISE Student Writer, he has covered topics such as autonomous vehicles, smart spaces, and surgical soft robotics. Outside of CISE, he is the vice president of the Sports Business Club, the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Free Press Sports, a writer for WTBU Sports, and a member of the baseball team. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising, catching Red Sox games, and spending time with family and friends.

 

Mia is a junior from Palo Alto, California, majoring in International Relations and minoring in History. She joined CISE with extensive journalism experience by working for the International Relations Review, the Daily Free Press, and previously, her high school newspaper. On campus, she serves as a Pardee Dean’s Ambassador and is involved with Delta Phi Epsilon, BarMUN, and the Women’s Water Polo team. In her free time, she enjoys trying different coffee shops and restaurants, reading, and traveling.

 

 

Sana Muneer is a junior from Chicago, Illinois studying journalism and psychology. She is excited to contribute to CISE’s mission and connect science and journalism to make complex research more accessible and engaging. Sana is currently vice president of BU’s independent student newspaper, The Daily Free Press, and previously held roles as managing co-editor and arts and community features editor. She currently works as a general assignment news co-op at Boston.com, and has also interned at BU Today and The Stroll Glen Ellyn. In her free time, she loves reading and trying different coffee shops.
