Next Generation Connectivity – An Industry Perspective On Key Technology Drivers

We live in exciting times as scientists, engineers and technologists driving digital transformation by creating a truly connected world. As almost all last-mile connectivity switches to wireless, a very promising set of disruptive technologies are shaping the wireless networks of the future – shared spectrum, 5G, O-RAN, Edge compute – to name a few. Leveraging complimentary tools from the world of AI-ML, Block-chain, Digital Twins, gaming-engines there is credible progress being made to create innovative connectivity solutions optimized for many different use cases. This talk provides the author’s perspectives on how he sees this vision taking shape in the industry today, some immediate challenge areas to focus on, and others where we need to keep pushing the boundaries from where we are today.

Deepak Das has 25 plus years of experience in telecom and wireless networking technologies. Starting with pioneering R&D and Standards activities at Bell Labs, he has architected global mobile broadband infrastructure solutions for top-tier operators and also brought innovative device and network test solutions to market. At Federated Wireless he has helped pioneer CBRS Spectrum-sharing as a Cloud service as the Chief Cloud Architect, and more recently has been driving 5G Private Networks solutions and strategy as Vice President of Solutions.
