2025 CISE PhD Student Scholars

In an effort to give back to the CISE community, CISE has established the CISE PhD Student Scholar Award. This student program recognizes the strength of incoming CISE students through a one-time endowment to support research-related expenses. Awardees also act as CISE Seminar student hosts during their first two years, enabling them to network with visiting professors and industry professionals. 

This year’s CISE PhD Student Scholars are:

  Ilker Isik, CV
Advisor: Wenchao Li

İlker Işık is an incoming PhD student at BU ECE. He is an MSc graduate  in computer engineering from METU (Middle East Technical University). At Boston University, he will continue doing cutting-edge research on machine learning and formal methods.

 

Lizzy (Qian) Yue, CV
Advisor: Ayse Coskun

Lizzy (Qian) Yue earned a BS in Mathematics and an MS in Artificial Intelligence from top universities in China, achieving excellent academic results. She was awarded the highly selective National Scholarship (top 0.2% nationwide) twice, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her work on AI for medical imaging has been published at MICCAI, the premier conference in this field. Her current research focuses on energy-efficient and sustainable computing systems and Green AI. At Boston University, she is honored to work with Prof. Ayse Coskun in the PEAC Lab.

Jiatong Guo, CV
Advisor: Eshed Ohn-Bar

Jiatong Guo is a first-year Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering at the Human-to-Everything Lab, advised by Prof. Eshed Ohn-bar. His research interests include human-machine interaction, machine learning, and neuromorphic computing. Prior to his doctoral studies, Jiatong earned his bachelor’s degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China), where he was awarded the National Scholarship—the highest honor for Chinese undergraduates—and recognized as an Outstanding Graduate. He also spent his entire fourth undergraduate year participating in the Graduate Preparation Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
