CELL-MET Orientation
Orientation Checklist and Information Packet
We have created an orientation packet that includes important information (including welcome videos) and a checklist for getting yourself up to speed on CELL-MET processes, events, and people. The document is available here. If you have trouble accessing the file, please contact the CELL-MET admin team (cellmet@bu.edu).

These
videos describe our progress as a Center as of 2021.
Mentoring Contract
CELL-MET has developed a
mentoring contract to support our undergraduate researchers. If you are involved in the mentoring of an undergraduate student, whether as a faculty member or within a research group as a postdoc or graduate student, this contract is designed to help support mentoring conversations to be supportive, inclusive, and constructive. It can also be a mechanism for sharing research progress across mentors (e.g. between faculty and postdoc, or between two faculty across thrust areas).
Career Planning
A recent
study of biomedically-driven professional development programs indicates that participating in professional development opportunities at any dosage (from one workshop to an internship opportunity) does not impact productivity or time to degree in comparison to those that did not participate. CELL-MET has many opportunities to engage with our industry partners and in professional development workshops – students and postdocs should use the outcomes of their career planning to identify the opportunities that are best aligned with their current and future goals. There are several online tools and resources that students and postdocs can use for planning their skill development in conversations with CELL-MET faculty:

Trainee Spreadsheet
The SLC has created a
Google Document of all trainee projects to facilitate trainee communication and collaboration. If you haven’t sent us your information already,
please add a summary of your project(s) relating to CELL-MET, a list of any skills/techniques/expertise you would be willing to talk about in the future, and any CELL-MET publication links you would like to add. This google doc is available to everyone and located in the CELL-MET Team Drive. If you have graduated, please indicate that in the ‘position’ column. If you do not see yourself, please add a row.
