Emilie Trehns
FIU Young Scholar, Dickerson Lab
In the summer of 2022, Emilie Trehns participated in Dr. Darryl Dickerson’s Lab at Florida International University as a Young Scholar. In this role, she dissected porcine hearts to better understand the mechanical properties in the sheet, normal, and fiber direction and performed stress relaxation tests on the Electro Force 3100 by focusing on elastic modulus and stiffness.
After graduating from Hialeah Gardens Senior High School, Emilie went on to the University of Central Florida where she is currently pursuing her degree in Mechanical Engineering.
