Anthony worked in the Dickerson Lab. His project was to find the best design for the cellular structure in myocardial tissue. More specifically, he designed and printed 3D structures and then tested them to see which most closely mirror the characteristics of an actual heart.

After completing his research experience with CELL-MET, Anthony Aguilera earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Miami Dade College. He participated in Florida International University’s REU.
His suggestion forfuture REUs is to make sure to explore all of the beautiful beaches and sights in the area… and when you’re driving, give yourself ample time for that Miami traffic!
