Adrian Parnell
In 2022, Adrian worked in the Bishop Lab with mentor Josh Javor. He worked on inference reduction of MEMS magnetic sensor setup via custom PCB design. Watch below to hear more about Adrian’s REM experience!
Emily Phillips
Emily taught at Renaissance High School and participated in the University of Michigan RET program remotely in 2022 under Sandra Rodegher.
Miles Phillips
Miles participated in the Adera Lab with mentor Yimin Zhou. His research focused on understanding droplet impact dynamics on lubricant-infused surfaces.
Muna Saleh
Muna participated in the Nordsletten lab with mentor Javiera Jilberto. Her work involved testing simulations of computational models of engineered heart tissues.
Lacey Simpson
Lacey Simpson is a science teacher at Braddock Senior High School. She worked in Dr. Darryl Dickerson’s Lab. Through her participation, she designed activities on 3D bioprinting and mechanical testing. Members of the Dickerson Lab also went on to serve as science fair mentors to her students.
Emilie Trehns
In the summer of 2022, Emilie Trehns participated in Dr. Darryl Dickerson’s Lab at Florida International University as a Young Scholar. In this role, she dissected porcine hearts to better understand the mechanical properties in the sheet, normal, and fiber direction and performed stress relaxation tests on the Electro Force 3100 by focusing on elastic […]
Jonathan Urquia
Jonathan worked in the Lejeune lab and was mentored by Hiba Kobiessi. He created an accessible Python and Jupyter Notebook software that allows them to distribute strains from cardiac microtissue. He enjoyed seeing his programs functioning properly after constantly working on the code. Hear more about Jonathan’s REU experience!
