Anthony Aguilera

Anthony worked in the Dickerson Lab. His project was to find the best design for the cellular structure in myocardial tissue. More specifically, he designed and printed 3D structures and then tested them to see which most closely mirror the characteristics of an actual heart. Learn more about Anthony and his work below!

Dana Brown

Dana worked in the Bishop Lab in the summer of 2021. She learned how to use circuit boards and work with nano machines seeking to create an electrical area that is consistent with specialized stem cells. Learn more about Dana and her work below!

Kent Burgoing

Kent Burgoing worked at the Forrest Lab focusing on nanofabricating organic electronic materials for precise cell attachment in the summer of 2021. In this time, he developed a quantitative model for the evaluation of organic electronic device packaging by conducting research on the process of performing an Electrical Calcium Test. Tiffany Cole

In 2021, Tiffany Cole worked in the Bishop Lab. She studied cell substrate interactions to see if they can monitor or change the behaviors of cardiomyocytes to later turn into a cardiac patch. Learn more about Tiffany and her work below!

Gabriel Hubbard

Under the supervision of Helen Fawcett, Gabriel Hubbard worked with Jourdan Watson on building and programming a robotic hand. In addition using his knowledge of electrical engineering and circuitry to build the robotic hand, Gabriel helped developed robotic hand-focused curriculum for use in middle and high school classrooms. Learn more about Gabriel and his work […]

Charles Knight

Charles worked on the Lab on a Chip project that is working on microchips that will eventually be used to help repair heart tissue. He went on to work as a computer scientist at the US Department of Defense. Learn more about Charles and his work below!

Babajide Koleoso

Babajide worked on building a scaffold that would house heart cells to make the cells communicate more effectively and contract cohesively. Learn more about BJ and his work below!

Megan Maero

In 2021, Megan worked in the Herron Lab (Cardiovascular Regeneration Core Laboratory) researching different devices to analyze cardiac heart tissue to look for a high throughput way to analyze three dimensional cardiac heart tissues for research in toxicity levels of new medicines. Learn more about Megan and her work below!

Alex Nuñez Carrasquillo

In 2021, Alex Nuñez Carrasquillo worked in the Lahann Lab focusing on biomimetic materials, advanced polymers and particle drug delivery. He designed an underlying scaffold to be able to place proteins that can stretch to emulate how heart tissues stretch. Learn more about Alex and his work below!

Destiny Nunez-Parra

Destiny worked at the Lejeune Lab focusing on SARCgraph which is a computational framework used to segment, track, and analyze sarcomeres. Learn more about Destiny and her work below!
