Public Worship & Action for Ceasefire

Through song, ritual and preaching, this event will engage the narrative and symbols of Good Friday to remember and bear witness to Jesus’ suffering at the hands of the Roman Empire, repent for Christianity’s role in colonization, anti-semitism, and islamophobia, and make a prophetic call for justice and peace in Palestine. We are mindful of the history of Christian antisemitic violence during Holy Week, especially on Good Friday. We call on people of faith to stand alongside Palestinian Christians in their call to “reject all theologies and interpretations that legitimize the wars of the powerful.” In the name of a “God of the downtrodden and oppressed, and a Jesus who rebuked the powerful and lifted up the marginalized,” we will take action together to demand a ceasefire now. Being planned in coordination with the Interfaith Ceasefire Coalition and people of all faiths and no faith are welcome and encouraged to join us!
