Coffee & Conversation: Florida’s New Bill and Its Effect on Higher Education
This week for Coffee & Conversation we will be discussing a new Florida bill (HB 999) which would build on Governor Ron DeSantis' efforts to restrict teaching about race and gender in Florida's public universities. This bill would also force other state colleges to shut down diversity programs and remove some majors entirely.Coffee and Conversation is a Boston University tradition. Each week, students, faculty, and staff gather in the Howard Thurman Center (HTC) to discuss the day’s headlines, trending topics, and controversial ideas. Led by HTC staff this program is an opportunity to practice civil discourse, discover your voice, and listen to new perspectives.
