Weather Message from President Brown

February 9, 2015

To All Members of the Boston University Community:

As you know, we have endured unprecedented snowfall at Boston University in the last three weeks. Because of our concern for the safety of faculty, staff, and students who commute to campus we made the difficult decision last night to again close both the Charles River and Medical Campuses for today.

We are hopeful that we will be able to open on Tuesday (February 10) to resume normal operations. In order to open we will count on yet another extraordinary effort by our dedicated buildings and grounds staff. The individuals who make up this staff have been working tirelessly–around the clock–to clear our campus of massive amounts of snow.

While safety must be our preeminent focus, we are also concerned about the disruption of instruction caused by the mounting number of missed class days. We are working to propose ways to make up at least some of the instructional time that has been lost. We will report to you on the options we develop as soon as possible.

I appreciate your patience and cooperation as we all deal with the impact of the weather. Please stay warm and safe through the remainder of the storm.

Sincerely,

Robert A. Brown signature
