Singing sendoff. Senior Breakfast has tended to bring out the lighter side of BU’s leaders, and humor was once again a dominant ingredient in this year’s fare. At Metcalf Hall on May 6, President ad interim Aram Chobanian sincerely praised graduating seniors for their hard-won achievements before launching into a tongue-in-cheek ballad he penned, “Let Me Tell You,” recounting his sudden appointment in 2003 and paying tribute to the class of 2005. Accompanied by pianist and arranger Matthew van Brink (CFA’02,’05), the performance elicited plenty of laughter and rousing applause. Several awards were presented as well, including the University Community Service Award, which went to Kristine Bucchianeri (CAS’05), a biology major who has volunteered more than 1,500 hours in the First Year Student Outreach Program, the Alternative Spring Break program, the Afterschool Program, Joining Hands, and the Student Food Rescue Program. “Kristine’s commitment is an example for all of us,” said Kenneth Elmore, dean of students. “She has left her impression on the University and the Boston community, and I’m confident that she’s going to continue to do that as she travels in Africa and works with the Peace Corps.” Photos by Kalman Zabarsky
