| BU regarded as third most reputable organization in the state, survey finds Boston University enjoys one of the finest reputations of any business organization in the commonwealth, according to a recent survey of Massachusetts executives. Boston public relations firm Morrissey and Company, in conjunction with national polling and research company Opinion Dynamics, earlier this fall asked 201 Massachusetts business leaders to rate 69 organizations on six attributes: general reputation, products and services, social responsibility, ethics and corporate governance, workplace environment, and financial performance. Survey results ranked Boston University third overall, behind only Harvard University and Children’s Hospital. Rounding out the top 10 were Massachusetts General Hospital, Tufts University, Boston College, Northeastern University, Fidelity Investments, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Staples. “That Massachusetts business leaders overwhelmingly regard Boston University as an institution worthy of their admiration and trust is a powerful testament to the quality of work done by our faculty, staff, and students,” says Aram V. Chobanian, president ad interim. “Just as gratifying, however, is the fact that the University is recognized for its commitment to doing the right thing — in how we treat our employees, deliver education and services to our students, and contribute to life in our surrounding community.” The enterprises rated in Morrissey and Company’s second annual Massachusetts Corporate Reputation Survey were chosen from among the top finishers in last year’s survey of 144 companies and a ranking conducted earlier this year by the Boston Globe. Boston University finished 10th last year. This year’s survey also found that most executives are more optimistic than they were a year ago, but that they believe the war in Iraq is hurting American global competitiveness.
