New vice president for marketing and communications
The University announced on October 4 the appointment of Stephen P. Burgay as vice president for marketing and communications. Burgay, 48, will oversee the University’s brand strategy and marketing initiatives, as well as provide communications support to the president and the Board of Trustees. He will be responsible for overseeing a number of University departments involved in marketing and communication services, including Public Relations, New Media, Marketing, Public Information, Photo Services, and the B.U. Bridge. “I am delighted to welcome Steve to our campus,” said Aram Chobanian, BU’s president ad interim, in announcing Burgay’s appointment. “ Boston University is a superb institution with much to distinguish it, and it is my expectation that Steve will do a great deal to tell that story to the world. He brings strong marketing experience and leadership to our senior management team, and we look forward to the contributions we know he is going to make to our institution.” Prior to joining BU, Burgay was a senior marketing executive at John Hancock Financial Services in Boston, where he oversaw the company’s brand management operation. He previously was an advertising executive at Hill, Holliday, a deputy commissioner in the Dukakis administration, and an attorney at the law firm Foley Hoag. Burgay graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University and received his law degree from New York University. He lives in Newton with his wife and two children. |
