United Way Campaign Poster

Bernard Kreger, a MED professor in the department of general internal medicine, has won the grand prize of BU's 2003 United Way campaign: a trip for two to any destination in the continental United States and a $600 gift certificate for land arrangements. “It was entirely a surprise,” says Kreger, who was seeing patients when the grand prize winner was announced at the annual University Holiday Party on December 18. “I walked into somebody else's office the next morning, and the secretary said, ‘Let me be among the first to congratulate you.' I'm happy to have it, and I'll have to figure out somewhere really good to go with it. I'm hoping that US Airways stays in business long enough for it to be realized.”

A longtime contributor to the United Way, Kreger describes his annual pledge to the United Way's Community Fund as “just part of being a good citizen. I grew up where this was just part of what you did.”

As of January 12, Boston University employees had contributed more than $160,800 to the 2003 United Way campaign, representing 91.9 percent of BU's $175,000 campaign goal. For information on giving to the United Way, call 617-358-UWAY.
